i've been a fan of gillian welch/david rawlings for several months now, after watching a dvd that one of patty's fans sent me last year. i saw them sunday in huntsville, al, and was blown away. david rawlings is an amazing guitar player, and gillian's songs are simple, yet poignant and touching. i spoke with both of them after their show, got autographs, and found them to be friendly, sincere, and humble. their tour with patty, emmylou and the millers will be awesome.

I also picked up " going driftless" an artists tribute to Greg Brown. All woman Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Iris Dement... just to name a few. It's a compilation for The Breast Cancer Fund. Check it out.

Billboard reported yesterday that Gillian Welch and David Rawlings are currently in the studio recording a new album that is expected to be released before the end of the year.
