Title: Dear Old Friend
Post by KarenL on 11/04/06 at 12:19:14

Could someone please tell me what Patty whispers at the beginning of Dear Old Friend? For some reason I just can't make it out. The song came on the radio the other day (couldn't believe it), and it was my first time hearing it (although heard that Mary Chapin Carpenter covered it). I wanted to pull over and listen. Anyway, I recently tracked down a copy. It's so beautiful, and has quickly become one of my favorite Patty songs. How does Patty do that every time? I was completely mesmerized hearing it for the first time and just love this song.

I haven't listened to that version in a while but if I remember it was

"I think I'll use my other intro"

I just went back and listened to it and she says

" I'm going to do my other intro"

Finally downloaded this off iTunes the other day, and I've been listening to it on repeat. What a gorgeous song: her voice (naturally), the lyrics, the scarce arrangement...it's sublime.

I played it for my sister last night. Her boyfriend is in the army, and I'm sure this song struck a chord with her.
